Viool, Julie de Graag, 1920

Viool, Julie de Graag, 1920

Violet is the official flower of February – and from the Victorian age also serves as a symbol or reminder of loyalty, thoughtfulness and dependability. With this violet you can send February birthday wishes, or send a signal of support and friendship to a dear friend.

This card design is inspired by the artist Julie de Graag. She created the original woodblock of the violet in 1920 and her print is part of the Rijksmuseum art collection in the Netherlands. This version can be printed on white cardstock, and the final will have a hint of pale grey in the petals and a dab of yellow at the center. The modern lines are simple and print with soft edges.
